Food parcels in the UK ...Unbelievable !!!!

Lots of us will remember food shortages after the war,we were lucky enough to have some of our family living in the USA so every Christmas a large box of food would arrive on our door step to ensure we ate well over the Christmas period.

Move on 60 years or so and we find our supermarkets and some shops taking in food and donations to feed those who cannot afford to buy even the basics, not quite third world but getting closer to it with more and more people being drawn into the…

The Flood. Boscastle, Cornwall, England - 16th August 2004. A poem.

I have visited Boscastle, Cornwall, many times in my life. During our most recent stay last August, we stayed in a house on Valency Row, which had felt the full force and effect of the terrible flood of 2004. Aikido.

Many years ago I joined a group of athletes who practiced Japanese martial arts. To begin with it was a Saturday training session. Novice practitioners were assigned to the morning, intermediates got the afternoons and the black belt practitioners had the evening slot.
