These are Almshouses built by a charity in 1899 for I think, people who had nowhere else to go. They are not to far from Barnet Hospital and the old Barnet hospital buildings were once the workhouses that inspired Oliver Twist. Barnet is also mentioned in Oliver Twist at the beginning.

That's amazing they date back to 1899. And that the old Barnet Hospital buildings inspired Dickens in Oliver Twist. 

Barnet definitely has an interesting history!
