Has anyone else been to see the film Quartet yet?  It's set in a retirement home for musicians and stars amongst others Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Pauline Colllins and Tom Courtney.  Would like to know what you though of it if you have.

It seems to be a new idea to make films aimed at older people and the one I really enjoyed was The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which was both moving and funny as well as being orginal.  Quartet had the people round me laughing constantly but I was less impressed though I did find a few moments amusing (3 elderly ladies singing Three Little Girls From School Are We had me chuckling when no one else was).

Think I would rather see films suitable for all ages and not have to contemplate my mortality when i'm out to enjoy myself.

I think Les Mis might be a better bet.  I saw the trailer and it looked very impressive even if the singing isn't as good as on the stage.  My friend's son was one of the children playing Gavroche when he was a little boy and we went to see it then.

I always take some sweets with me to the cinema as the prices are outrageous.  We use Orange Wednesday so only have to pay for one pensioner's ticket and we also get our parking fee refunded by them.
