As part of my recent research around the historic part of Worksop Town, I observed a number of street signs that looked worthy of investigation.

They were produced from individual ceramic tiles manufactured by Minton’s of Stoke – On – Trent. The process is known as encaustic tiles, manufactured from a number of different colours of clay, and Herbert Minton is credited with inventing the process, which went into full-scale production circa 1840s.

I'd be interested to know if there are any of these historic street signs where other Sixtyplusurfers reside.
