Where are you?

It is great to see so many members signing on, or re-registering with the brand-new Sixtyplus surfers site. However I am still puzzled why so few people are around. Where are you all?

Happy Christmas to all.

I haven't done much on the new site yet as I've been busy entering Advent competitions (to no avail so far) but would like to wish all members, new and old, a Very Happy Christmas (or whatever is appropiate) and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

The 'Big Island':

The 'Big Island':

Villagers stranded for 12 DAYS after only access road is flooded under 6ft of water (and they could be cut off until Christmas)

  • Historic Somerset village of Muchelney aptly means 'Big Island' in Saxon
  • More than 100 trapped residents being taken by boat to buy essentials
  • Vicar arrives by tractor to give morning sermon at 15th century church
  • Flood 'worst in area for 90 years' but many…

The Flood. Boscastle, Cornwall, England - 16th August 2004. A poem.

I have visited Boscastle, Cornwall, many times in my life. During our most recent stay last August, we stayed in a house on Valency Row, which had felt the full force and effect of the terrible flood of 2004. Aikido.

Many years ago I joined a group of athletes who practiced Japanese martial arts. To begin with it was a Saturday training session. Novice practitioners were assigned to the morning, intermediates got the afternoons and the black belt practitioners had the evening slot.
