Tell us about yourself, including hobbies and interests
Myself and my wife have always worked in jobs which came with a lot of responsibility and could be quite stressful, attention to detail has always been of the utmost importance.
Most weekends we would escape our routine and go camping, caravanning, or boating. We had a Narrow boat for 14 years on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and enjoyed every minute of it as every summer we would close the house down and move onto the boat for 3 months only returning home to do laundry, collect mail and check that the house was ok. We became nomadic water gypsies. We would stay over Christmas and New Year and would have a family get together. We did the Father Christmas Boat run picking up Santa and dropping him off at the next mooring station. The boat would be decorated with Christmas Lights and decorations and Christmas Carols blaring out of the boat’s speakers. Needless to say we caused quite a stir. After 14 years we decided we would like a change from the water so bought a caravan and have never looked back.
We took early retirement and then began to live our dream by becoming holiday site wardens working 6 months of the year which to us wasn’t a job at all as we were doing something we loved. During this time we lived in most counties in Britain. At 65 we retired, sold the caravan and bought a large motor home and we now tour for 11 months of the year thoroughly enjoying the nomadic life style.

A man died and went to Heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the

Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "What are

all those clocks?"

St. Peter answered, "Those are lie-clocks. Everyone on Earth has a…

Father Christmas Boat Run 1993.

The Father Christmas boat run on the Leeds & Liverpool canal was becoming an annual event. It was to take place at the Burnley Road Wharf starting off with Santa stepping off the boat at 1 pm on the dot. The fun day had started at 11 am with several voluntary organisations all doing their specialities. There was a children’s fancy dress, a canine fancy dress, a puppeteer and many other side shows so it was crucial we slotted into out allotted time…

Sorry if I offend some 60+ members but I find the new blog page unfriendly. I liked it when you could see all that weeks or even that months blogs.I believe if the message board and the blog page were the same as the old blog page it would be better but as a new guy what do I know .............

What do the regular members think?
