Awww shucks! stillahippie, I think you've just lost me my chance of winning the Tea Pot.

Oh no, I hope not! It's so weird that we both love the same town. I had written my piece the night before you put yours on, and waited till the next day to review it - by which time you'd put yours on! Shame there's not two teapots to win!

Will be pleased to meet up when you're down this way!

No problem, I'm only having a (HA HA!) my husband Jeff and I love Rye, maybe we can share the prize? I'll be hapy with the tea pot lid. Good luck with the competition, hope you'll enjoy eating your cakes off the beautiful cake stand!! that I really really really really want. Seriously though I just love Sixtyplusurfers, what a great bunch of people that have joined and those who run the site, and I am pleased just to be a part of it, and I'm happy for anyone that is a lucky winner. Good luck to you all.

Dartmoor & the wildness of it.  Pew Tor near Yelverton Golf course. Your grand children can run up the hill & climb on to the highest rocks seeing the world in front of them. The pony with it's tiny new foal. The ponies eating the yellow gorse blossom with their teeth & the dogs swimming in the natural granite mine pool.

Went to Camber Sands yesterday - see my post about Rye area.

This pic is of a trawler, which appears at low tide, and disappears when the tide comes in....kentcc%20ebay%20camber%20004.JPG

Went to the National Gallery today for the first time. Been past it loads of times; it's only now I've moved out of the London area I've realised how I really should have gone there before. Didn't go round it all; one gets painting fever after about an hour, so will go there again. Key observations from today:

1/ The Canalettos are marvellous - please study the precise detail on the paintings - worth a visit for these alone.

2/ My reservations about Turner were well-considered.

Please also make a note of this: Dulwich Picture Gallery are running an exhibition of the works of M C Escher from 12 October till January 2016, with over 200 works. If you don't know Escher's work, just key it into Google and be astounded. We'll be going: may see you there!
