A small collection of Shredded Wheat dishes.

I love the look of these dishes. Were they for eating Shredded Wheat out of or is there some other reason for the name?

The Shredded Wheat dishes are really pretty, I like the way you have displayed them. Your two china cats have also caught my eye, I have a small collection of china cats too.

Hi Judylow, Yes they were for eating Shredded Wheat, the bigger dishes held two and of course the smaller dishes one. As far as I can remember I think you were able to send for them off the shredded wheat box.

Now call me an old cynic - cynic I can live with but old I don't like - but I can't help be amused by the items offered on freecycling websites.

I'm talking about the likes of "Six bags of rubble, free to collector", "Broken washing machine, free to collector", "Two seater sofa, springs gone, free to collector".

"Hello, it's Barney, have you still got the bags of have...great...I've got over six hundred bags of rubble since I've been collecting.... I believe I've got the largest collection in the UK....taken over the house and garden, wife doesn't complain, she's under one of them.... "

Or am I missing the point....

I am a member of a freecycling website, & some of the offers make me laugh too such as the following.

Chest of drawers (Broken)

Fridge freezer (faulty)

Garden strimmer (Broken)

Tree branches

Old single mattress

Box of used corks

Adult rabbit

Two year old Cockerel

Royal Python

But I did take up an offer of a lovely red leather Chesterfield sofa in perfect condition.

Hi The Crafter,

There are great ones on free sites:

Free Poo - to collect or to have?

Vintage organ - still works  -  sounds like me

Wrought iron bed frame (broken) - overwrought?

King size duet - will sing you lullabies?

Farm with sounds - good condition - smoke free home - has central heating?

Free exorcise bike - ride the ghosts out of town

I too have got things from freegle, and have also put things on them, to even things up.

This one is more appropriate to ourselves:

Looking for games and light up stuff for old peoples home

Sounds like they'll be playing pass the dutchie from the left hand side.....

Sounds the type of old peoples' home I'd be happy in!
