I invariably have one of my two cameras with me when we are out and about. I love to take photographs of scenery, buildings and monuments. It amuses me when I watch other people taking their shots as…Continue

As you will know, the weather is breaking down tonight. I went to Camber Sands to paddle, relax, and to read a bit this afternoon. I saw the dodgy weather coming our way from France and decided to stay on to take some pics. Sadly, no lightning, but some atmospheric shots, which were followed by a mini tornado on the way home - cut corn being blown across the road - still in the merc bonnet badge when I got home - tree branches blown across the road, etc. By now, it will be on the way to  you all, good luck! Three pics, this is the first one, the land around Rye just before the storm..

And this is how the storm looked just before it started. At this time there were many flashes of lightning offshore, and rumbles of thunder...021.JPG

Prior to this, there was a mass of flies/bees sitting on the roof of my car; the windfarm windmills were dead still, and the combine harvesters were making an incredible dust whilst cutting....

I could see the lightning, and by now the thunder, coming steadily closer, and it seemed appropriate to beat a hasty retreat...

Can anyone recommend to me a decent SLR digital camera?

I've got a pocket sized digital camera, and funds now permit me to get a proper one - I used to have a Nikon FM in the old days, and want to get something good that I can add lenses to....

Be pleased with any suggestions, even if they're 'avoid' ones.

Hi everyone, I have a Samsung WB31F camera which to be honest I just keep on Auto to take photos so obviously I'm not that camera savvy, but it's beginning to play up lately so I'm looking to buy a new camera, I'd like to go the next step up from the small Samsung smart camera to a "proper" camera. I've looked on the internet but I don't really understand all the jargon, I want something easy to use that takes better photos than the camera I have now. I've seen some of your amazing photos on sixtyplus and would love to take photos like them. any ideas please. Thank you.

Hi Mr Crafter,

I've just upgraded my camera - will keep the old one in the car, and use the new one for serious photos. It's a Panasonic FZ72, which has a brilliant lens encompassing both close-ups and zoom work. I was recommended by the local helpful camera shop, who've sold loads. This was their 'demo' version, which I got for £165, with a year's guarantee. Will let you know how it progresses.

Here's a pic with the 'old' camera. A bit of trick photography. The trains on the Romney Hythe And Dymchurch are 1/3 scale, and thus come up to my shoulders. By taking the photo whilst kneeling, the engine looks normal size.

Try uploading Picasa to your computer, it's like Photoshop for beginners. You can change the colour balance, shadows, etc., and zoom in if you wish.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself! I love photography! There’s something about it that’s so relaxing but it’s also a great way to involve the whole family. I have loved it all my life and now my little boy who’s just turned 4 years old is loving it to I’m over the moon! The fun you can have with an old camera, a toddler and a cocker spaniel. Well I thought I would share one of my favourite photos I took with you and I’m sure I’ll be sharing more with you all soon.
