I hate the very widespread practice of pricing items in 9’s is an obvious attempt to fool you into thinking they are actually much cheaper than they are, and is an insult to your intelligence!

For example, you see the sort of banner headline proclaiming an item is “Under £100” which, on closer inspection, is £99.99..... big deal!

Petrol and diesel are always advertised to include 0.9 pence per litre in the price: this is a clear attempt to make fuel appear a penny cheaper than it is, as there’s obviously no such thing as 0.9 of a penny!
